Presentation Overview:

For only the second time in history, the U.S. Supreme Court rendered a decision interpreting the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act(FDCPA). In a 7-2 opinion, the Court held in Jerman v. Carlisle, McNellie, Rini, Kramer & Ulrich LPA that the FDCPA's bona fide errordefense does not apply to mistakes of law when applicable to interpretation of the FDCPA. Is your agency prepared to defend a mistake of law given the Supreme Court's narrowing of this defense?

You will learn:

(1) Impact this decision will have on all segments of the industry.
(2) How to ensure your agency is doing everything it can to prevent mistakes.
(3) How to ensure your collection letters are in compliance with the law.

How you will benefit:

Avoid mistakes of the law given the Supreme Court's ruling, which narrows the defense.
