School districts are striving to achieve energy and water efficiency. A big time goal is for schools to produce as much energy and water as they consume (Net Zero). This workshop will discuss the latest construction and financing developments for school districts to save energy and water usage and reduce costs. Case studies will demonstrate (1) how Oakland Unified School District, with community support and involvement, is implementing Net Zero Energy at an urban high school campus to provide on-site energy production, and (2) how Evergreen School District increased performance at one school by aiming for Net Zero Water and constructing a Net Zero Energy Administration building – the first Net Zero Energy/Emission public school building in California.
