In late January, Assemblyman Kevin Jeffries, R-Lake Elsinore, introduced legislation that would cut the $11.14 billon bond measure associated with SB 2 (“The Safe, Clean, and Reliable Drinking Water Supply Act of 2012”) by 25 percent, to about $8.25 billion.

AB 157 may be heard in committee February 19, 2011. (See AB 157, Introduced Jan. 19, 2011.) Ultimately, a two-thirds vote of both houses of the Legislature is required to amend the water bond. The bond is scheduled to be on the November 2012 ballot.
