34th Annual Conference on School Facilities (February 25-27, 2013)

Now is the time to start planning for a successful 2013 general obligation bond election. This roundtable will discuss the planning process including identifying projects to be funded with bond proceeds and conducting surveys to determine voter support. Based on an analysis of your survey results you can begin to draft ballot language that will be most likely to result in approval of your bond measure.

This roundtable will provide guidance on drafting a bond measure, including recent case law. In addition, we will discuss the difference between campaigning and informational activities, including the use of district funds to inform the public. This roundtable will also present case studies on successful campaigns as well as information on methods to counter opposition to a school bond election. Handout materials on election procedures and timelines will be distributed as well as descriptions of the roles of participants.
