Presentation Overview:

Federal and state wage and hour laws and regulations pose serious challenges even for seasoned HR professionals.  From misclassification of employees to miscalculation of compensable hours worked, wage and hour issues present difficult traps for the unwary.

This program will present three case studies involving many common, and some not so common, issues encountered in handling wage and hour matters, e.g., (1) calculating employees’ “regular rate,” (2) classifying employees as exempt or non-exempt; (3) determining the compensability of pre-liminary and post-liminary activities, travel time, stand-by time, etc.; (4) use of CTO; (5) 7k and other alternative scheduling arrangements, as well as many others. 

The program will be interactive and the audience will be invited to participate in discussing the issues presented by the case studies.  The program will highlight new developments under both the federal Fair Labor Standards Act and applicable California wage and hour laws.
