DWR, ACWA Schedule Additional Groundwater Monitoring Workshops

August 4, 2010

The California Department of Water Resources (DWR) and the Association of California Water Agencies (ACWA) have scheduled four additional workshops to discuss the draft SBX7-6 Groundwater Elevation Monitoring Program guidelines. As discussed in our July 19 update, these workshops will provide information about the program and the opportunity for public input.

The additional workshops are scheduled in San Diego (August 26), Watsonville (August 31), Bakersfield (September 1), and Sacramento (September 2). Registration is required by August 17, 2010 for the San Diego workshop, and by August 24, 2010 for the Watsonville, Bakersfield, and Sacramento workshops. Those wanting to attend can register here. The Sacramento workshop will also be webcast on September 2, 2010 from 1:30 to 4:30 pm. These workshops will follow the same format as the six workshops previously scheduled in Byron (August 9), Fresno (August 10), Sonoma (August 17), Redding (August 18), Riverside (August 24), and Los Angeles (August 25).

Each workshop is scheduled for about 3 hours, and will include an approximately 90 minute presentation on the monitoring program by DWR staff, with about 60 minutes for public comments and a question and answer session. Agendas for each workshop are now available (click here).
