Overview:

Both federal and California law impose obligations on employers to reasonably accommodate disabled employees. But are there limits on that obligation?  What constitutes “reasonable” accommodation? Does the obligation to reasonably accommodate an employee require an employer to overlook behavioral issues in the workplace if the employee claims his/her misbehavior is related to a disability?  This presentation will focus on the nature and extent of employers’ obligations to reasonably accommodate disabled employees. The presentation will provide participants with tips for successfully navigating the interactive process with disabled employees. The presentation also will provide guidance in addressing situations in which an employee responds to proposed disciplinary action by claiming they are disabled.
