Edward J. Tiedemann
Mr. Tiedemann is a senior attorney with over 40 years of experience in representing various public agencies and private clients as general or special counsel. He primarily focuses on water and related natural resources matters. Currently, he serves as general counsel to Placer County Water Agency and Kings River Conservation District, and as special counsel to Kern County Water Agency. He is also counsel to the Association of California Water Agencies Joint Powers Insurance Authority.
He advises clients on matters relating to:
- Water rights, transfers and quality
- Development, construction, financing, operation and relicensing of power projects in accordance with Federal and State regulations
- Sales of water and power
- Project regulatory matters, including compliance with the California Environmental Quality Act and National Environmental Protection Act
- Drafting and promoting legislation
- Contract negotiation
- Requirement of the Brown Act and similar public meeting laws, Conflict of Interest statues, and public official disclosure requirements.
Mr. Tiedemann continues to advise his clients in a variety of these matters and emphasizes preventive law by keeping his clients apprised of changes in legislation. His experience also includes representation and litigation support, having appeared before local, state and federal administrative agencies such as the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), the State Water Resources Control Board, the Califonia Energy Commission, and trial and appellate courts.
